Anne has never shied away from tough cases

This 1998 photo shows Anne and her predecessor, former State's Attorney Frank Weathersbee, shortly before starting the double-murder trial of Scotland Eugene Williams in 1998. The title of the article reads, "Williams trial evidence could overwhelm jury, case attorneys fear." It didn't. Anne and Frank won two first-degree murder convictions, and Williams was sentenced to life without parole. The case was notable for being the first to use mitochondrial DNA evidence in the State of Maryland. (Photo credit: The Baltimore Sun, 1998)
